UNITED AIRLINES TECHNICAL OPERATIONS CENTER

2016 - Present

FSB was contracted to provide design and Construction Administration services for United Airlines to build a new $400M Hangar and Ground Service Maintenance facility at LAX.  At over 411,000 S.F. this project represents a major investment in the Southern California region.  As the first employee in California, I was tasked with establishing the office while also serving as the full-time CA representative for the design team.

LAX PARKING GARAGE UPGRADES

2012 through 2017

LAX requested BASE provide a design for the modernization of the parking garages within the CTA.  Consisting of 14 towers spread over eight structures, the solution was to create a uniform language that would visually tie disparate structure designs together.

HOLLYWOOD PARK RETAIL

2017 - Present

Working with Architects Orange, I was tasked to provide DD and CD drawings for five of the twenty three buildings that made up the retail portion of the Hollywood Park stadium development.  AO's advanced Revit system, while initially a challenge, introduced me to the depth of possibilities within the program.

CRENSHAW LAX LINE

2010

Currently under construction, the Crenshaw LAX line represents a major investment in previously underserved Los Angeles communities.  Starting with concept design and ending with schematic bidding documents allowed me to see the many moving parts that go  into large scale transportation projects. I participated in several design workshops between BASE, Anil Verma and Hood Design, and later completed the bidding documents for the Florence/La Brea and Crenshaw/Slauson stations.

CHARLES R. DREW UNIVERSITY

2013 - Present

Several projects were designed during a five year relationship with the medical university.  The most recent of which was a 2.5M redesign of the entry to the University.  Located within unincorporated LA County, the design and permitting process was a complex nexus of owner and county requirements.  The resulting design incorporates a large retention area, a bus drop off and parking area, all while allowing the annual Jazz at Drew festival to be hosted on a completely flat (zero curb) site.

LONG BEACH AIRPORT TERMINAL MODIFICATIONS

2017-2018

I was tasked with providing recommendations for a nuissance bird issue at the Long Beach Airport (LGB) terminal buildings.  After an initial report where several options were presented, an all glass vestibule was chosen as the most effective and least disruptive to the day to day operations of the airport.
While never built, the project was taken through permitting, and was ready for bid at final submittal.

LYNWOOD LINEAR PARK

2010-2011

Working with From Lot to Spot, and the community of Lynwood, I schematically designed a 2 mile long linear walking park, incorporating several programattic elements that were lacking within the community.  A dog park, community garden, excercise area, flood control and several other elements were used to pull users through the full length of the project.  The project was put out to RFP and was completed by SWA in 2015.

DOUGLAS DOLLARHIDE COMMUNITY CENTER

Completed 2014

The culmination of several years of planning and negotiation.  The Dollarhide Community Center has become a catalytic development within Compton, providing much needed services to the community at large.  I served as design and production support, a role that served to reinforce the value of good construction documentation and the effort that is required to achieve that level of quality. Design started in 2008 and project was on hold for several years.

WHO I AM AND WHAT I DO

Hello!

My interest lies at the interface of design and construction. I believe that creating unique spaces not only requires a vivid imagination, but also an ability to adapt on the fly and work closely with the contracting team to achieve team success.

I am an avid mountain biker and snowboarder and it is my belief that those activities create space for me to operate at full capacity.

Thanks for checking out my site.
